Pension Fund Investment Strategy (PFIS)

During your membership of the Plan, you will probably wish to review your investment strategy to reflect your changing needs and as you approach retirement it is likely that you will be more concerned with protecting the value of your pension, rather than investing for additional growth.

Standard Life’s Pension Fund Investment Strategy (PFIS) allows you to select an investment strategy for your pension when you first set it up allowing your fund to be moved automatically into lower risk investments as you approach retirement.

The Plan provides a single PFIS called the Balanced II Profile. This Investment Strategy is also used as the default fund where a member does not specify any investment instructions. Members who made contributions before July 2009 had a choice of three different investment profiles under the PFIS. These were the Balanced, Cautious and Opportunity Profiles.
