Pension Investment-Linked Funds
You may choose to invest in one or more of the following Standard Life investment-linked Funds. The return on this type of investment is directly related to the performance of the assets in which they invest and therefore the value of the fund can go down as well as up.
Each type of fund has a varying level of risk associated with it. In general, investments offering a higher level of security of an investment are those where growth is likely to be more limited. Investments offering a lower level of security on the other hand generally offer the potential for higher growth.
The investment strategy for each fund is continuously reviewed and may be changed in line with developments in the relevant markets.

Standard Life With Profits Fund
The Plan has historically provided two Standard Life With Profits Funds. These are the Standard Life Pension Millennium With Profits Fund, and the Standard Life Pension With Profits Fund. These funds are no longer available for new investors, although existing contributors to the Standard Life Pension Millennium With Profits Fund may continue to contribute to this Fund.
These funds are invested in a wide spread of investments. Bonuses are paid which reflect part of the investment return on the fund. The remainder of the investment return is held back for 'smoothing' returns between good years and bad. A final (terminal) bonus may be paid when the investment is sold which is intended to reflect approximately undistributed investment returns. However, terminal bonus may be altered or withdrawn at any time.
